Be the welcoming face of Tynedale Rugby Club

The Club is looking for volunteers to fill the vital role of Duty Officer for 1stXV home matches this season. The job description for the role is detailed below.

TRFC Duty Officer Responsibilities (2024-2025)

PRE-MATCH

  • Arrive at the ground 90 minutes before KO
  • Check with groundsman which changing rooms are to be used by teams and officials Introduce yourself to the catering staff so they are aware who is Duty Officer
  • Welcome and introduce yourself to the match officials (and possibly assessors) and show them to their changing room. Offer them a drink – there is an account set up at the bar. Also ask if they would like a drink at half-time and/or end of match.
  • Welcome and introduce yourself to visiting team manager/officials and show them to their changing room. Direct visiting officials to the bar where they’ll be met by myself and our club VPs.

DURING THE MATCH

  • If requested by the doctor/physio, arrange for transport to hospital for players with serious injury.

HALF-TIME

  • Take drinks to match officials in their changing room

END OF MATCH

  • Liaise with catering staff to collect 2 large pots of tea & plastic cups 5 minutes before the end of the game (if you need to make the tea it is 8 tea bags + milk per pot). Also small pot for officials (N.B. this is only required on particularly cold days during the winter). Deliver tea to each changing room.
  • Otherwise deliver any drinks required by the match officials to their changing room.

POST-MATCH

  • Ensure the 4th official receives a drink (usually in the back office - rear of entrance lobby)
  • Meet with the club president in the bar to welcome the visiting team officials
