This Saturday we are eased into the new season, travel wise, with a short journey down the river to take on our neighbours Blaydon in our first away fixture.
Last season the two derby matches produced very close encounters with the home side just being victorious in each case – Blaydon winning their home match 19-14 and Tynedale winning the return fixture at Tynedale Park by 27-24. Both matches served to demonstrate that form counts for nothing in these fixtures with Blaydon demonstrating a level of performance way above their lowly league position at the time.

Blaydon kicked off their season last Saturday with a disappointing 21-34 home defeat to Hull Ionians and will certainly be looking to put things right this weekend.

A typical tight match is expected this Saturday and the lads know they will have to be on their ‘A’ game – a big Tyne support would be well appreciated.
