This Saturday the 1stXV travel back into South Yorkshire to play Sheffield Tigers and with the weather forecast showing an improvement the prospects of a match, the first of 2023, are looking good.
The 1stXV last played on 3rd December 2022 at Huddersfield so this Saturday’s match will come after a 5 week gap, the frost and the Festive Period combining to force four successive missed Saturdays.

This Saturday’s match is the first of this season’s reverse fixtures with Tynedale hosting the Tigers on Saturday September 17th 2022 when Tynedale won a bizarre 13-try thriller by 41-34, Tynedale scoring seven tries to the Tigers’ six tries. The result of the match appeared settled when Tyne led 29-0 after only 25 minutes but Tigers fought back strongly and were only denied a draw in injury time when the ball was held up over the Tynedale line.
This season Sheffield Tigers’ results have been, like Tynedale’s, inconsistent with their win at Rotherham being their stand-out result. They have won one fewer matches than Tynedale and currently are 7 league points behind us. Another tight game looks on the cards.
