Second placed Fylde were made to look second best as they lost to mid-table Tynedale.
The visitors were out-gunned in the forwards and their lineout was a mess. When hey did put together handling moves they were kept at bay by excellent Tynedale tackling.
The Northumbrians had lost their previous three games but were always in control, taking the lead after only 75 seconds when good handling sent Alex Dryden in at the corner for an unconverted try.
Fylde hit back strongly and after sustained pressure Tynedale ran out of tacklers and Connor Wilkinson crossed after 20 minutes.
Tynedale got their noses back in front with a Rob Parker penalty after 23 minutes and Josh Leslie dotted down after a powerful forward drive from a scrum for a 13-5 interval lead. They extended their advantage after 51 minutes when James Telford sent Parker in for a try which he also converted.
Fylde responded with a slick attack that earned Wilkinson his second try after 55 minutes and Greg Smith's conversion made it 20-12.
Fylde were unable to find a way through the magnificent Dale defence and Parker landed his second penalty after 73 minute to seal it.
