Report taken from 'The Rugby Paper':-
An out of sorts Tynedale did just enough to edge past Preston at a rainy Corbridge.
Seldom out of their 22 in the second half, Tynedale almost threw it away in the closing minutes when a succession of wild passes on their own line gave Preston the scent of victory, but referee Ben Rayner awarded a contentious penalty against them.
Tynedale started well with a solid driving maul enabling scrum-half James Telford to send Seamus Hutton in for the opening try.
The Hoppers hit back, with winger Tyler Spence winning the race to touch down a clever kick behind the home defence.
Tynedale got their noses in front again when the ball was zipped along the line for Will Roberts to score. They extended their lead on the half hour when Hutton grabbed his second try, Jake Rodgers converting from the touchline to give Tynedale a 17-5 interval lead.
Tynedale felt aggrieved early in the second half when a promising attack was halted by what they felt was a deliberate knock-on. Moments later Tynedale were penalised, and from the kick, Spence scampered in for his second try, improved by Edward Keohane.
