Report from 'The Rugby Paper':-
New Rotherham Head Coach Adam Byron got off to a winning start as Rotherham put Tynedale to the sword.
After three weeks without a game that had seen the resignation of Steve Salvin and disruption caused by Covid, the fixture was a tricky one for the Titans but they showed no signs of rustiness, with Harry Dunne to the fore.
Rikki Stout went over for the first try and a good backs move was finished off by Mat Clark with Lloyd Hayes converting both scores.
After Tynedale were held up over the line, normal service was resumed when Tom Lewis went over in the corner.
Lewis scooted over from near the halfway line to secure Rotherham's four-try bonus point early in the second half before the visitors stirred.
A maul try for Chris Wearmouth, converted by Alex Ball, got them on the board, and when Rotherham's Theo Nwo-Su-Hope was sent to the sin bin they took advantage with second score for Guy Pike and the extras trimmed the deficit to 24-14.
The unease in the home camp was brief. Rotherham's pack battered at the visitors' line, forcing a penalty try, and replacement Alastair Donkor went over near the end to cap a good day's work.
