Report from "The Rugby Paper":-
A magnificent touchline conversion from Lewis Minnikin 10 minutes into added time salvaged an unlikely draw for Hull Ionians.
Tynedale looked well set to avenge the 50-14 hammering they suffered at Hull Ionians' hands in the reverse fixture back in September.
Tynedale took the lead after 16 minutes when Ralph Johnston crashed over from a penalty lineout.
Ben Haigh grabbed the second when he managed to squirm over from a 5m scrum, and in-form James Blackett added the extras. Ionians hit back with a Minnikin penalty to make it 12-3 at the interval.
Tynedale were camped on the Ionians line for the opening 10 minutes of the second half, but excellent defence meant all they had to show was another Blackett penalty which was cancelled out by a Minnikin reply.
Tynedale then lost their way as a spell of aimless kicking handed possession to Ionians, who created an overlap for Sam Wilson to touch down.
Tynedale seemed to have steadied the ship with another Blackett penalty with two minutes of normal time left, but deep into injury time a lineout drive brought a try for lock Tom Peters, giving Minnikin his chance to save the game.
