New Stand
The club obtained planning approval in October 1990 for the erection of a new covered cantilever spectator stand, to replace the old wooden stand - which had been built by Italian prisoners during the 1939-45 war.

Pitch realignment
The ground committee altered the position of the first XV pitch and other pitches at the east end of the ground to create space for an extra pitch.

Floods
Two pitches were flooded in March when the wet weather caused the river level to rise. The drainage was so good that the pitches were playable by the following weekend.

Club Steward
Hugh Butler was employed as club steward.

1stXV
The 1st XV's North 1 League performance was disappointing. Good victories were recorded, however, against national opposition - Liverpool St. Helens, Newcastle Gosforth, Hawick and Heriots FP.

The Northumberland Cup was lost 6 - 3 to Newcastle Gosforth.

Junior sides
All the junior sides had successful seasons. The 2nd XV lost only 2 games, and the Grasshoppers 5 in the season. Both teams won their respective cup-finals, as did the 3rd XV.

Alan Gledson
Alan Gledson captained Northumberland.

Worriers Tour
The Worriers toured the Liverpool/Wirral area with a party of 42, visiting New Brighton, Sefton RFC, and Caldy RFC through the worst weather of the season. The tour was remarkably successful, helped perhaps by the inclement weather which prevented any actual games from taking place. They did survive the weather and the suicidal bar diving at Sefton, where Jim Chapman and Ken Bell displayed great style.
